PM Robinah Nabbanja Reviews progress at Karuma Hydro power project.

The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah is leading a team of Ministers and technocrats on a Site Visit and Progress Review at Karuma Hydro Power Project in Kiryandongo District.

According to the Premier ,the one day working visit follows a presidential directive to ensure all issues concerning ongoing hydropower projects that will add extra 833 mega watts to Uganda’s power capacity are resolved.

The Premier was led to a guided tour of the entire project and thereafter chaired a meeting where various issues were discussed for the progress of the project.

According to Officials from UEDCL, Karuma Hydro Power dam is undergoing final touches and has taken a landmark test of evacuating electricity to the national grid.

The construction of shs 5.3 trillion Power facility commenced in December 2013 and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2023.

The 600 megawatts project was contracted to Sinohydro corporation limited.
