Just In: COU Archbishop Kazimba makes surprise Visit at Luweero Diocese Headquarters

The COU Boss Archbishop Steven Kaziimba Mugalu makes surprise Visit at the chaotic Luwero Diocese headquarters a day after he accused the district chairman Eridad Kibirango for peddling and sowing confusion.

“On my way from Madi West Nile Diocese this afternoon, I made an impromptu visit to Luweero Diocesan Offices to check on our Staff and pray with them. I encouraged them to remain committed to serving diligently. The Diocese came under my care after the Bishop’s retirement yesterday,” Kaziimba tweeted.

He arrived at the diocese at about 3pm today and interacted with staff there.

Earlier on Sunday, Kaziimba told a press conference during a visit to Madi diocese that the Luwero Chairperson needed to understand his role and demarcate a clear line between him and the Church.

There have been protests the entire past week in Luwero after the cancellation of the nomination of Canon Godfrey Kasana after adultery allegations.

Indicating that Canon Kasana has no more chances, Kaziimba asked the Christians of Luwero to be calm as the House of bishops that will convene on August 1, will endorse a new bishop-elect.

“We follow  protocol, procedure and policy. The LCV Chairperson of Luwero must know that I am not a politician and he should stay in his lane. Does he want to become the Archbishop?  Will the chairman be the one to consecrate the new bishop? Let everyone do their role,” Kaziimba said.

He laughed at critics who alleged he had to appear at the abdication service of Bishop Eridad Nsubuga saying his delegate, the Bishop of Central Buganda, represented him ably.
